Well, after the last repair on my Sky+ box, all seemed to be working OK until...I tried to record something that was more than half an hour long.
I don't understand it though, as I replaced the 160GB disk with an 80GB disk, and on the bottom on the box it says its meant to come with an 80GB disk anyway.
Do I need to put the disk in a PC and fdisk it? Any ideas?

Sky+ Box Problem solved
Today I fixed my Sky+ box that has been having some issues for a couple of months now.
It all started when the box would crash about once or twice a day, then every few minutes. It was driving me crazy, so a call to Sky's Indian call centre was on the menu.
Sky said they would send an engineer to replace the box with a refurb (the current box was also a refurb I should add) with a 3 month warranty for £65.
I thought I could maybe get one from eBay for a little less, but they are actually quite expensive!
It was then I realised that the box would make a clicking noise just before it crashed, so leading me to think it was the hard drive making it crash. So, I disabled the auto-record feature and it hasnt crashed since. It means I cant record anything though...so its time to replace the drive.
By undoing a few screws, taking out the old 160GB drive, replacing with an 80GB drive I already had, changing the jumper to "Cable Select", and screwed it all back together again.
At first the box didn't recognise the new drive, so I had to do a complete system reset (http://www.pvrwire.com/2005/10/05/sky-tip-of-the-week/)
And hey presto! It is now working fine. The fan is on most of he time now, but at least it works!
